Eaglemoss Figurines
Bob, I'm pretty sure you're a regular buyer of those Eaglesmoss figurines, both the DC and Marvel versions, right?
If so (or if anyone else here knows), do you have any recommendations for places to order back issues? I'm FINALLY rewarding myself with my own comic room and am now open to a number of statues and other things to decorate my room.
When I was visiting Chicago, I saw that Chris (Neseman) and Mike (Norton) both had a ton of them and I LOVED the figurines.
So any advice on how to get them would be great. I know I can order them directly from Eaglemoss but with the weak USD and the international shipping, that's going to be pricey.
Also, are these safe to handle?

Not Bob, but I can give you my story.
I won a HUGE (really, I mean HUGE) lot on ebay. Someone had been collecting from the beginning and sold his entire collection (which was HUGE by the way - and EXPENSIVE). The few that I was missing I ordered through Forbidden Planet UK (which has an exclusive blue Angel figure).
I order all the rest through DCBS. Start doing that now, so you have a "stopping point" to find the back issues. Search ebay, cons (I see lots there), and good comic shops. I rarely see them overly discounted, beyond 25% or so, though, just as a heads-up.
I do encourage you get them. They are awesome, and small enough to not take up too much room when you have a large collection. I actually display them on the front part of my bookshelves in front of my hardcovers.

I was looking over the list of releases last night and I wouldn't want more than a handful of them. Frankly, I was a bit surprised/disappointed at the selection. I assumed they hammered out the majority of the 'major' characters first and then went more esoteric. My goal would basically be to have complete teams of the X-men and Avengers, with maybe a few others like Deadpool and Blink thrown in for good measure, and I'm not sure that's a reality at least based on what they've produced so far.

I have ALL the marvel figures, but I'm somewhat more select on the DC figures (I'm not getting most of the villains, for instance).
That said, I've been getting them all as they came out from DCBS, so really have not been tuned into getting them on the back-market.
I think the eBay suggestion is probably the way to go.

That's a good idea.....you might even be able to work out a discount with your LCS owner if you order a pile of them.Garrett! wrote:You might just try your LCS. I was order the Genis-Vell Captain Marvel from mine about 6 months ago. I seem to recall the the owner said Diamond still has all of them.

Send them an e-mail with the list of ones you want and see what they can order.Wood wrote: Good idea. Alas, my LCS = DCBS so not sure that's possible for me.
DCBS is a comics shop that orders from Diamond just like any other shop, so they should be able to get you a re-order of any that are still available from Diamond.

It used to be, at least for the Marvel figurines, that Previews was often offering four figures, but two of them were ones that had previously been available through Previews. So it may also be possible that the ones you are looking for may become available again. I'm not certain if Eaglemoss only does the one run of each, or if they go back to the molds when there is demand for one that is no longer available. It would only seem to make sense that they routinely make more of characters such as Spiderman, Hulk, Captain America, Superman, Batman, etc. I use to track this, as I normally can only afford to get one per month, but gave up a few months back.

I have been ordering the new figurines and was wondering about obtaining some that I missed. Lo and behold from DCBS:BobBretall wrote:Send them an e-mail with the list of ones you want and see what they can order.Wood wrote: Good idea. Alas, my LCS = DCBS so not sure that's possible for me.

DCBS wrote:We can and do take backorders for the Eaglemoss figures. There is no time limit on how far back we can go, it's just a matter of whether or not the figures are still available.
If you let us know what figures you are interested in, we can let you know if they are on backorder, available, or out of stock.
Here are the Eaglemoss figures that should currently be available to retailers through Diamond:

Well, I ordered Magneto back in January from DCBS and it still is listed as being on order, so I don't know if there is an issue with Diamond or DCBS. Personally I've found these figurines to be an area where DCBS doesn't do a great job. Roughly a third of the time I've ordered figurines, I end up with them being listed on my invoice but not actually included in the shipment. Sure they are good about getting it into my shipment the following month (if the figurine is still available), but it's happened too often for me to feel comfortable with ordering these from DCBS at this point.

Did you order Magneto when it was a "new" listing or as a re-order?Alec Burkhardt wrote:Well, I ordered Magneto back in January from DCBS and it still is listed as being on order, so I don't know if there is an issue with Diamond or DCBS. I ask because I have been ordering these figures from DCBS for years and have never had a problem in getting them, but I always order them when they are first solicited.
I have ALSO noticed I frequently have problems getting things like this (either from the back of Previews or from DC Direct) when I add the order on after the fact (e.g. not when it is first solicited).

I ordered it last January, which was the first time it was solicited in Previews since I began getting the figurines, but it appears it wasn't the very first time it was solicited. It also wasn't listed as a resolicit/reorder and had a new JAN order number (JAN094575), which might be why DCBS/Diamond can't get their acts together. Pretty sure I have never added them as an after-the-fact addition to an order, regardless of whether they were a brand new figurine or one being offered again.BobBretall wrote:Did you order Magneto when it was a "new" listing or as a re-order?

The other, and for me bigger, problem (listing them on the my invoice but not actually including them in the box) has absolutely nothing to do with when the figurines were solicited. I'd have to double check, but I'm fairly certain the majority of them have been newly released figures (especially as I know it has happened with the DC figurines, none of which have been listed more than once at this point) as the only time I would have ordered a relisted figurine is when it was newly available in Previews. Listing items on an invoice and then not including them is purely due to a lack of care by the packers at DCBS. And since it has occurred so frequently with these figurines (roughly 1 in 3), I will no longer order them from DCBS. It just isn't worth the hassle when I can get them elsewhere for the same price and not have to do all the follow up to get my order taken care of.
Not trying to rag on DCBS, as I'm still a generally satisfied customer. However, I've been doing mail-order comics off & on for about 30 years, and I also don't find them to be the "so much greater than all the others" service that so many of the podcasts make them out to be. And in the case of this one item, they simply aren't the place for me due to the issues I've had. I'm glad you haven't had similar issues, and hope others don't as well.
I'm up to my 317th or so weekly shipment from DCBS and have found them to be extremely reliable. I haven't dealt with other online comic book stores so I can't really say how they compare to the others. Frankly, given the problems you've had with these figures, I can't blame you for opting to get the figures from some place else.Alec Burkhardt wrote: The other, and for me bigger, problem (listing them on the my invoice but not actually including them in the box) has absolutely nothing to do with when the figurines were solicited.
