Yes, I really enjoyed this episode. It was just a lot of fun. Nice to finally put a voice to the name as far as Cameron is concerned, and I was really impressed with everything he had to say. The fellow has a lot of heart.

I kept thinking the whole way through, that I probably would have loved this book as a young boy. My dad and I were were always clashing horns, as it were. Definetly going to keep that trade in mind somewhere down the road.

Another great episode, guys. I enjoyed myself from beginning to end.

First and foremost it's cool to hear what DCBS has planned for the future. I love the idea of the spreadsheet uploading feature.

If you guys are overburdened with peanuts, I suggest giving them to your local postnet or ups store. My mom owns a postnet and we get customers who give us bags of peanuts all the time in garbage bags and we're glad to take them. My philosophy is if we can reuse those peanuts it's better for everyone since the items aren't ending up in landfills. I do that with all my DCBS peanuts as well.

Other than that, I gotta say that Back issue spotlights are my favorite parts of the comic book page podcasts. Like indie books, it's nice to hear these discussions to help me know what to look for when going back to stuff before my time.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the episode. I was really happy with the conversation and had a great time talking with Cameron.

It was great to hear Cameron finally, it's pretty amazing to think that you two are the first to have him on (at least of the comic casts I listen to). The guy has been arguably the most ardent sponsor of comics podcasting and yet this was his first moment in the sun!

It's awesome that two of his best customers were the ones to give him a chance to chat. Also cool to see he's a lifelong comic book fan.

I was pretty surprised by his voice. I still don't know what he looks like but he struck me as quite young on the call. I figured he was the elder statesman of the Meckler family; am I wrong?

Great episode as usual. The Super Sons sounded like something I might want to try.

Having just freed up some space in my podcast listening schedule, I subscribed to the Back Issue, Super Fan and Weekly Reader 'casts.

The Super Sons episode was particularly fun, as I remember reading (and loving) those stories back in the Seventies.

It doesn't sound like they've aged very well, though.

I kinda had the same impression... I skipped the trade when it was first solicited because I had a feeling that might be the case. I find that for me, this sort of material works best in the original form, because you get a sense of the nostalgia restored by reading the original issues. Sometimes the collections fail to reproduce that for me.

And where are you freeing up time on your podcasting schedule? Hope there's still room for the Drawerbox!

I find trying to compare older stories to current comics difficult at best. I think that the Super Sons stories were good, solid stories for the time and fun for me today but that comic book storytelling has changed a lot in the meanwhile.

The stories do feel a bit dated and are certainly a bit wacky. The Scooby Doo aspect of the stories was a standard and accepted storytelling convention of the time. But compared to most of what I read these days it really stands out and is noticeable.

I try to take older stories for what they are and how they fit into the time they came from and not think too much about if they aged well or not. I just go in trying to have a good time reading the story.

But, man, it is a bit wild to realize just how different the storytelling conventions have become over the past few decades.

All in all, I have to agree with JustBill that reading them in the original comics is not a bad way to go. The trade is great but there is a lot to be said for the immersion into the time period from reading the original comics, ads, letter pages and all.
