That's awesome. I remember when I was fresh out of design school and knew everything and wouldn't listen to anyone, they paired me up with a more experienced designer who'd been where I wanted to go...and he spent the better part of two hours explaining how everything I'd done up to that point was utterly useless and that I had the potential to be great, but not if kept doing what I was doing.

I think everyone can use someone like that in their lives. Good to see even people as revered as Steve Rude had to hear it at some point (and I'm guessing Toth probably heard it from someone else as he was learning his trade).

i heard that alex toth was known for his harsh critiques.

i love steve rude since his world's finest with dave gibbons but alex toth is just something else... (a pioneer to mention one thing)
