I wanted to pick up some Marvel books, but every single book I would have picked up was double shipping. So I picked up zero Marvel books and wrote them an e-mail explaining what books I was going to buy and why I didn't. Instead I picked up a few more DC books that I was on the fence about.

Wow, I just finally had a chance to start looking through Previews (I wonder what else I missed -- time to listen to the Previews podcast), and I saw they finally reprinted Green Arrow Long Bow Hunters. That is an awesome mini that led into a fantastic ongoing. I wish that's the Green Arrow they had decided to include in the New 52.

DC is up for me this month, which brings up the "Big 2" total. I'm liking Before Watchmen so far, and I picked up Suicide Squad & JL Dark. In Dark Horse, I finally dropped DH Presents. This was quite expensive for a book where I was really liking about 50% of the content. I can likely get #0 issue collections of the stuff that's really good down the line. Over in Image, Prophet finally passed my "threshold of weird" and I'm going to drop it. I was down on Indies this month, seemed like a bunch of titles either ended last month or were on "skip months". I also gave up on Atlas comics, too much late shipping and stories I felt were kind of middle of the road.
I'm keeping my total in the right area, still a bit below my original reduction target.

DC: 33 (up 4 from last month)
Vertigo: 7 (same as last month)
Marvel: 11 (same as last month)

I'm not a big fan of "photo realistic" art, but it worked in this book.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN - The Slott just keeps losing me.
DIAL H - Loved the idea and characters, just not the execution.
THE SPIDER - Not a fan of the photo'esque type art. Just draws me out of the story
THE SHADOW - When I started issue 2, I got about 3 pages in and had to go back and reread issue #1 to get my bearings straight on what went where with who and why. Not a good thing for a monthly. Automatic HC buy for me however, as I do like the story, art and approach,. I guess I could just keep buying and read them all at once, but every time I do that ... I never get back to them. May as well wait.

I felt this way at first when there was a story I could follow that all the weird stuff was wrapped around......they lost me out in the weird weeds with the latest issue...... Way beyond my threshold of tolerance for weird.

Glory #27 is starting to toy around in this territory but nowhere near as much as the last issue of Prophet.
