Collecting Supreme

Post by amunptah »

I'm wondering if anyone can give me a break-down on the best way to read the back issues of Supreme. I don't like starting on a series if I can't read every issue.

I've heard bad things about a couple of trades, and some is uncollected if I'm not mistaken. I emailed Mile High Comics asking for a price for the entire run, but no reply for over a week now.

My understanding was that you could jump into the relaunched Supreme without any need to read the old book. Having said that, you might want to check ebay. I've picked up entire runs of a title on there pretty cheap. Sometimes as low as twenty cents an issue all-told.

Issues 1-40 w/ BIN option

Supreme Search

I'm not sure if that's the right series, though. Did they restart when Alan Moore took over later?

Final 10 issues Moore did (which probably lead into the relaunched title)

Or you could ask some of us shop keepers that actually love to get requests and go on a search for you :). If you can tell me exactly what you are looking for (basically answer boshuda's question) then I would be happy to see what I can do for you.

I tried to read the relaunch of Supreme and found it completely un-followable. It was a wreck for me. I'm not sure if it's worth it to me to try and track the series down.

Hi Danscomics, thanks for the interest! I'd be interested on a quote for the whole run (inc a mini-series I believe?) in reasonable quality (this is a reading run, not a collection). I live in the uk so I need to factor in shipping too.

I think the first 2 trades collect everything up until the new series. There were some printing problems with one of the trades - I don't recall which - perhaps the 1st? I think they may have fixed it in a subsequent edition, but I'm not sure.

I own both trades, and have only read the 1st one. I can't recall if the edition I have had the printing problem and I didn't think it was so bad, or if the problem was in the 2nd one (which I haven't yet read, but which I don't recall it looking too bad from thumbing through it).

As for the 1st one - I thought it was ok, but not great. I know some people rave about it - particularly those who are fans of the Superman stories from the 50s to which this series pays homage. But for me - it was just ok. I liked the issues drawn by Chris Sprouse a lot more than the issues by the other guy(s). But overall, despite me being a big Moore fan, it's been at least 5 or 6 years since I read the first volume, and I still haven't gotten around to reading the second one!
