Buried amongst all the NYCC news on
Newsarama
The Gordon Lee trial is finally over, charges have been dropped.
The sad part is that if CBLDF was not there to help, this guy would have been wiped out having to spend tens of thousands of dollars on lawyers to defend himself in the face of ridiculous prosecutorial misconduct.
The case conclusion was also mentioned on

So much for innocent until proven guilty.
I seriously feel so bad for the guy having to deal with all this. The whole thing was absurd from the get go. These type of cases seriously make me angry.
And you're right, if not for the CBLDF the cost probably would have destroyed him.
A loser pays system would be nice in this instance.
Also, I have to wonder why the ACLU would not be involved in something like this. Or were they?

This is why it is so important to drop a couple of buck in the CBLDF donation can when you are able.

I don't think the ACLU was involved. But remember, the ACLU is not so huge that it can take every case that people would like them to. Just because the ACLU is not involved in a case doesn't mean that they've necessarily taken a position on it.
More importantly CBLDF was already on the job here. Too many organizations pitching in would end up with too many cooks trying to run the show, anyway.

Right, I figured that much. I was just curious if they had sent any monetary or legal assitance.

Yeah, I suppose that's probably true.
In any event, I'm just glad to hear that it's over.
