It has been nearly ten years since the release of the final issue of TRANSMETROPOLITAN, the Eisner-nominated comics series from writer Warren Ellis and artist Darick Robertson. We have approached Mr Ellis and Mr Robertson about putting together a brand new art book of original images, and we're happy to report both of the co-creators will be participating in this project, donating a brand new cover and a foreword for the book!
TRANSMETROPOLITAN combines black humor, political scandal, and moral ambiguity to look into the gonzo mind of an outlaw journalist and The City he inhabits. Aided by his embattled Editor and his two Assistants, the protagonist blazes a path through a futuristic world of skyscrapers and technological wonders, dark alleys and unspeakable depravity.
You can read the first issue for free, courtesy of DC Comics, by visiting..

This new art book will be a hardcover volume limited to a few thousand hand-numbered copies.

There is no reprinted material, this is all brand new art, including a new cover by Mr Robertson and a foreword by Mr Ellis. Think of it as a very strange coffee table book. This isn't being printed by DC Comics; it is being printed with their permission. That means you can expect a heavy dose of uncensored, unedited madness. (If this were an "Absolute" or "Definitive"-- and it's NOT-- we couldn't give all of the sales proceeds to charity. DC Comics, Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson very generously donated their permission for this art book with no licensing fees or percentages. We're very grateful for that.)
So, If you're a Transmet fan (like me), the best way to get the book is to jump in and support it NOW via Kickstarter. AND the nice part is you are just paying the cost of the book as your pledge (plus postage for the regular edition). This is NOT a "give me some money and then when the book comes out you can ALSO buy it" kind of deal. Think of it as an advance purchase.NO, THIS BOOK WILL NOT BE CARRIED IN RETAIL STORES. NO, THIS IS NOT AVAILABLE THROUGH DIAMOND. If your local comic shop is awesome enough to buy copies of this book, they bought them right here. If the book does not sell out in preorders, the CBLDF will probably carry a few at their table at conventions, but that's only if the book doesn't sell out first.
Before the question is asked: NO, THIS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE IN SOFTCOVER. THERE ARE NO PLANS TO REPRINT THE BOOK IN THE FUTURE.
