Thanks for your response! Appreciated.

I recently read the first trade of Vision by Tom King after you guys kept raving about it and wow what a series. New Super-Man was first rebirth series to get the axe from me I thought the first issue was so awful i mean he saves the kid after he bullied him and then takes his money?! No interest in seeing if it gets better or not. I plan on picking up Ringside trade I liked the first issue just didn't continue with it. I'm on the verge of dropping Wonder Woman as well. The story hasn't been particularly good and I absolutely loathe they are doing the switching back and forth thing between year one and present day. I am excited for All Star Batman #1

Glad you liked vision - I get the new superman take - what an unlike able character, I gotta feeling he and kid will become buddies down the road just not sure if I will still be reading - ringside is good choice for trade since it doesn't come out regularly - I think Wonder Woman would work better with the year one storyline as a backup instead of its own series within a series

Pickups from my local store for the week of 8-10.
Battlestar Galactica #1 (Dynamite) - Cullen Bunn is very prolific these days.
Six Million Dollar Man #2 (Dynamite) - We can rebuild him.
GI Joe #230 (Idw) - I missed this one last week at my store.
Unleash #1 (Amigo) - El Torres is one of the best horror writers out there.
Faith #1 (Valiant) - This one has been out a few weeks. Thought I would give it a try.
The Black Monday Murders #1 (Image) - Hickman comes up with some great stuff. Maybe he will actually get issue number two of this series out before the end of the year.
Island 731 #1 (American Gothic Press) - Looks interesting.
3 o'clock club #1 (Lion Forge/Roar) - See Island 731.
Black Panther #5 (Marvel) - I'm doing Marvel Unlimited but my son is collecting Black Panther physical copies so I pick these up for him. Sometimes he even pays me back for them (he's 24).

I keep trying all kinds of new stuff when I already have way too much that I have pre ordered through DCBS. Need to have an intervention with myself and start to make some serious decisions about a lot of titles.

Kulipari is a four issue mini from Red 5 Comics. I feel like Red 5 are still searching for a property to fill the role that Atomic Robo did for them for several years. Maybe Kulipari could fill that role, but they are gonna have to step it up if they want that to happen.
I didn't realize before reading this that there were several illustrated kids books that had been put out about the Kulipari that precede this series. This is written by Trevor Pryce who was a defensive end in the NFL for years. There is also an animated series set to debut on Netflix this month so the time is right to strike with this property.
The book itself is okay. It's a five minute read about a Kulipari (Frog Warrior), named Burnu, who is on a quest to retrieve some scrolls that will help his tribe with a war they have been
fighting with the Spiders and the Scorpions. The real downer for me in this issue is the storytelling technique. Almost every other page of the entire issue goes back and forth between "then" and "now." Not once or twice, but over and over and over again. There is potential here, but this needs some rewrites and tightening up on the storytelling. I am giving this a 5 out of 10, or a straight up C. Skip it.

E.V.I.L. Heroes is a six issue mini from Zenoscope. What caught my eye was the striking Anubis cover. This is written by Joe Brusha and I didn't know what it was about going in but thought why not give it a shot. Well, the characters are not analogs of existing characters, they are 100% rip offs. They just took the Justice League and wrote a story. The artist might as well have traced Superman and Wonder Woman and just stuck different symbols on their chests. The Flash is exactly the same only wearing a Doctor Fate type mask with little wings on it. They also have a six feet tall black bat character but I'm not sure who that is suppose to be....hmmm. Aquaman guy is a green lizardman looking fellow with seaweed for dreadlocks. Hey, wait a minute, Jason Momoa has dreadlocks. I'm not making this up.
Anyway, these heroes have decided they deserve to be worshipped as gods, as they once were, so they band together to take over the world. Any similarities to Injustice or any other story you may have read several times is purely coincidental. Funny thing is, I kind of enjoyed this fan fiction and I think I will pick up the second issue. I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that. Probably would give it a C+/B-, maybe a 6 out of 10. This is a strange attempt by Zenoscope. But I still think that Anubis cover is sweet. Buy at your own risk.

Dishonored is based on a video game that I know nothing about. It is being put out by Titan Comics. I assume this is a mini series but I couldn't swear to that fact. The writer for this is Gordon Rennie who has a ton of writing credits for titles like 2000AD and lots of others in the UK. He is a professional writer and does a credible job. The artwork by Andrea Olimpieri is done in a somewhat dark, heavy ink style that works well with this story.
Dishonored is set in the year 1850. It is about a guy named Corvo Attano who is the Royal Protector in Dunwall, the capital of Gristol. He is along the lines of Forever from Lazarus, the family/empires head of security, and a great fighter with a sword is his hand. Corvo is getting old and he is searching for a trainable protégé to follow in his footsteps. When the sun goes down Corvo dons a mask and takes to the streets in a vigilante type capacity. Of course there are some twists and turns and a conspiracy that has to do with Corvo's family that he has yet to discover that leads us toward the second issue.
Overall I think this is a solid comic. Rennie is a good writer and knows how to weave a tale. This reminds me a bit of the Assassin's Creed Templar book that Fred VanLente is writing for Titan. Titan is putting out quite a few good books and if I had John Mayo money I would be buying more of them, but things being what they are, I'm not sure if I will follow up with issue two of Dishonored or not. I would rate this a 7 out of 10, or probably a B- using the scale that you and John use. Solid comic, and one you may enjoy reading, but not necessarily a must read.

Take care - Jerry

Of the three I really want to check out the Zenoscope book - I like injustice a lot which is basically fan fiction too so why not
