I think BatCop will also remain doctormo. However, I'm interested in seeing if readers will get tired of having a different Batman again. The sales dipped a bit for the last issue. So, time will tell.

On a Marvel Star Wars note, the new series from Greg Rucka is going to do really well. I can't wait for it!

Kudos to Marvel for their Star Wars plan. They really have planned a great comic book line for the property.

When the numbers for July first posted I examined Valiant's Book of Death (BoD), specifically trying to determine if their questionable sales incentive strategy worked. For those who don't remember, Valiant offered a Book of Death:Geomancer for every 20 BoD ordered. Also Valiant made it clear that Geomancer would not be collected digitally or in trade. A few questions for the next Mayo Report is ...
- Judging that BoD sold almost 64k issues, did Valiant's strategy work?
- How many BoD:Geomancer were actually sent to retailers?
- Does Valiant have some momentum with good sales for Divinity, The Valiant, and BoD?
- The BoD tie-in Book of Death: Fall of Bloodshot only posted 2k more sales than Bloodshot Reborn. Why didn't BoD: Bloodshot get a bigger bump? It appears retailers based that order off of the Reborn title soley.

I watched the Star Wars original trilogy again yesterday, and I was thinking of these comics and the Star Wars Universe.

I am really excited for the new movie, then the Rogue One movie next year as well. Disney and Marvel really have helped create Star Wars excitement again.

What I really want is Marvel and Disney to get their Star Wars comics and trades into the newsstand side of the market place all over. It could help the comic market even more in my opinion.

Drew, Do you read the BPRD? I was thinking of getting into those Omnibus books. I love the art style and always wanted to try them. I liked the Baltimore issue I read once.

My sister and I might do that at some point and maybe record a single episode on that trilogy and another episode on the other trilogy. Depends if we can find the time for it.

nope, never have; since it is so established/long running I felt I needed to go back to the beginning...and haven't yet...

I would be curious if there is a good trade to try it out, I am not ready to go the omnibus route quite yet

I was surprised to hear you guys thought 70k was high for Invader Zim. I honestly thought it would be higher.

Jhonen Vasquez's animated series creation has a huge cult following. I love the show myself. I'm happy for the numbers. I still need to pick up the issue.

Zim and Gir are great!

As you guys were discussing in the July 2015 Mayo Report, it must be difficult for retailers to buy copies of all of these new series. I noticed at my LCS that they have tons of left over issues of the #1s that recently came out of DC, but none of the #2s. I asked and they told me that if the stores bought half as many as their orders of Batman (if they order 10 copies of Batman #41, then 5 copies of Prez #1), then they were able to return those issues. Obviously they did that for the #1s, but then got their orders for the #2s way too low since there are these blank spots on their shelves for those issues.

Hey guys, great Mayo Report episode again.

The question about Marvel leaving the newsstand came up again so I thought I'd re-post a link to the article where David Gabriel says Marvel no longer distributes to the newstand market.
http://www.comicsbeat.com/marvels-david ... e-noticed/

The thing that bothered me about the attitude Gabriel had was he seemed to think that because there was no huge outcry from the comic book media that no noticed. At the time I didn't have a comic shop nearby and was getting a large percentage of my comics at Barnes and Noble, so when they stopped showing up it was a bit annoying. Now, if Marvel losses money from newsstand sales, I don't expect them to keep selling there but an announcement would have been a nice thing to do for those of us who were buying comics there.

Re: Invader Zim

The sales numbers behind issue #1 were inflated due to retailer covers and the comic was also carried at Hot Topic stores. I know I ordered a lot of copies for my store, but we dropped the numbers for issue #2.

Great comic though. I love the animated series and the comic felt like a part of the series.

Thanks to all for the information on Invader Zim. I'm glad people enjoy the book. I meant no disrespect to the title, but it is odd when a book in the top 20 is something neither John or I is familiar with. The joy of getting older, pop culture has long since passed me by it feels like at times.

I knew Invader Zim was based on something but I wasn't sure what. There are just too many properties for me to keep track of. I knew it had been around for a while and was high profile enough I probably should know more about it. Hopefully the comic levels out at decent numbers.

the Legend of Geomancer 1 in 25 from Valiant is selling on average for $15-20 which is about what DCBS / midtown were charging for it, so not much value in that one - if you cared about that sort of thing...
