I was only referring to message board people may want, and what the general comic audience is looking for. I do not think there is that large a gap between what is offered, and the interest in those products.

On the flip side, your argument assumes the amount of people going to message boards has not also seen a similar decline.
My point was that we don't know how many people are posting on message boards and/or the number of people buying the particular comics being commented on so determining the percentage of people that post about an issue out of the total paid readership is impossible to know. Yet there is this belief that the internet accounts for a small percentage of readers and is comprised mainly of people with radically different tasted than the presumed majority of of readers. Again, I'm not saying it isn't true. I just find it to be a rather questionable yet surprisingly common conclusion.

Are any of you all reading any significant number of Marvel titles?

I'm curious what the interest/apathy level is for Marvel here on the forum.

I am round 50% Marvel on a monthly basis. It can ebb and flow based upon what trades come out each month. I would also add most of the best books I read each month are Marvel books.

I'm not. I was going to get back into it after a short breather I took because of the nonsense (double-shipping $3.99 cover price, events over substance, architect-foolishness, etc). I changed my mind when every single title I was going to get was double-shipping last month. I've decided to read classic X-Men stories to get my Marvel fix. I sent a constructive e-mail to the X-Office to explain why I wasn't reading, but haven't received any type of response.

I read all spidey books and most x-books. So off the top of my head;

ASM
Scarlet Spider
Avenging Spider
Ultimate Spider
Venom

Then

Astonishing X-men
Uncanny X-men
Uncanny X-force
x-men
x-men: legacy
wolverine & x-men
age of apocalypse

I think that's it. With this relaunch .... I don't know. I've always thought Iron Man could be interesting, or the Hulk ...but it seems like a very convoluted past with Hulk.

Count me among the apathetic. The only Marvel title I've been reading is Daredevil, and that is digitally, I catch up when I notice price drops.

Dropped my final Marvel comic (Avengers Academy) a few months ago. I just can't support Marvels multiple shipping policy or pricing policy.

Nothing I see announced has me intrigued, let alone actually wanting to purchase it.

For the last several years, I have been rather disinclined to buy books featuring the Marvel and DC characters.

Despite this, by the time the DC relaunch was in previews, it had intrigued me enough to try out all of the new DC titles. I'm curious if I will feel the same way about this launch by the time these books are solicited.

I'm still mostly Marvels. 4 decades of Marvel buying is a tough habit to shake! For example, in July I'm scheduled to get 44 comics/22 Marvels (including 5 double ships). Mostly the core books I've been buying for years.

Tough but not impossible. I started reading Marvel in 1970, and up until a few years ago was reading 50+ a month. This month I'm getting 9.

I think it has to do with a person's sense of enjoyment vs. indignation over $3.99 books, double shipping, too many crossovers, and the seeming lack of ability to tell a story in less than 4-6 parts.

Well, I'm not a fan of double shipping or $3.99 comics, but I still enjoy much of what I read from Marvel, PLUS I enjoy the collecting aspect. So I'm willing to live with a bad run every now and then to keep my collection intact. Bottom line- I enjoy reading the characters I've enjoyed for decades, so I continue to do so. Ymmv.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying Marvel comics, I'm glad you're able to. They burned me out.

And while I love keeping up runs, they snapped me out of that habit by breaking up almost every single run I was collecting with new #1s, retitled series, reboots, relaunches, and other shenanigans.

Only Amazing Spider-Man & Fantastic Four remain. When Fraction takes over FF, if they restart at #1 again, I will drop it.

BTW, this is not only Marvel. I'd have never dropped Detective if they had not renumbered everything with a new #1. It's very easy for me to drop #6 of something. Very hard for me to drop # 890 after I have been getting it since #200.

I've just done the rounds, looking at comments associated to articles of the Uncanny Avengers cover reveal.

I don't think I've found a positive comment yet.

Between mostly $3.99 books, constant events/crossovers, and then double-shipping, I've cut way back on my Marvel pre-orders. I'm down to 4 comics this month; Daredevil, Iron Man, and Fantastic Four. Due to 3.99, I dropped Amazing Spider-Man, Uncanny X-Men, and Incredible Hulk. Due to double shipping, I dropped X-Men Legacy, Avengers Academy, Venom, and Winter Soldier. I'd still be getting these comics if they didn't charge 3.99 for them and/or they didn't double-ship them. Renumbering a bunch of titles to #1's and changing heroes costumes isn't going to get me to come back. That's okay because they are plenty of other comics out there that are a lot of fun to read.
