otoh, I started watching For Your Eyes Only last night -- Roger Moore sure seems a lot older than I remember now that he is in 1080p.

Wasn't he already 45 when he first started as Bond in LIVE OR LET DIE? I think he's even a couple years older than Connery.

Oh, just wait until A VIEW TO A KILL comes out on Blu-Ray. Moore looking long in the tooth and Tanya Roberts' acting won't get any better in high def.

I'll make up for it with THE SPY WHO LOVED ME. Anytime I see Barbara Bach in her black dress in Egypt, I plan on testing the pause button.

Wow, I don't think you ever mentioned that before, Bob. That's pretty cool. Did your dad ever bring anything interesting (rare) home to watch?

No, this was film (you would have needed a huge movie projector, he's 88 now and retired 23 years ago) and taking stuff out to look at off-site probably would have been a good way to get fired.

I wish they came with digital copies. Was loading up a bunch of movies for a biz trip and realized none of them include digital.

Sore tempted, but I picked up a boxed set of all the Bond films (minus Casino and Quantum) at my favorite used book store awhile back. While it would be really cool to see Ursula, Barbara and Tanya (Roberts..the ONLY reason to watch View to a Kill), the trade of is seeing wrinkly Moore!

Also my eyesight is horrible...half the time hi-def is wasted on me.

Actually to get the true HD picture, you want a 1080p tv. I have a 1080i and recently purchased a 1080p and there is a huge noticeable difference.

I was wondering about this. I have a 50 inch plasma HDTV, but I bought it about 5 years ago and it's only 1080i. I finally broke down and got a blu-ray player (in part b/c I wanted to see the Avengers deleted scenes, and in part b/c I wanted to be able to watch streaming netflix on the HDTV).

So if I watch a blu-ray on my 1080i TV, does that mean it's no better than watching a DVD? Or will it still be better, just not AS good as if I had a 1080p TV.

Is 1080p as good as it gets these days? Or is even that not the best now?

1080i still better than DVD. I think it's roughly similar to 720p. DVD is 480i/p depending on your player.
