Other thoughts:
I picked DC Comics over Image (my second choice) because of the new 52. Regardless of your opinion on the all 52 titles, they did bring excitement to comics this year.
I had trouble really coming up with my favorite DC book because I thought there were so many great books (Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Action, Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Green Lantern, Flash, Birds of Prey, Teen Titans, Nightwing, Batgirl, Batwoman, Batman and Robin). But I went with Batman because of it was a "perfect" relaunch of the title. As for favorite character, I picked Batman because of the Black Mirror, Batman Incorporated, Flashpoint, and Batman (New 52). Bob chose Green Lantern, which was a great choice as well. I thought the War of the Green Lanterns and new 52 series were both really good.
I had the opposite problem when it came to Marvel. While I read a lot of Marvel books and I thought there some good books, I had trouble remembering great ones. Fear Itself was a big disappointment and Schism started strong and ended very weak.
I think Image did a great job in 2011 and with new books like Fatale and Saga, could be a winner in 2012.
