I was a bit surprised that there are not Flashpoint minis in the stores today. I know Booster Gold shipped, but with 16 minis & 4 one-shots, I'd have thought that they'd have at least a couple of them in the stores the week after Flashpoint #1.

Also, asked my LCS how Flashpoint sold, he said it did about 2/3rd of what Fear Itself #1 sold.....

The Minis didn't get solicited until the April Previews, so we won't start to see them until June 1st at the earliest. I agree, it is a bit odd, I would have expected at least a few of them around Flashpoint #1 and Booster Gold.

I'll be interested to see how this compares to Fear Itself #1 on the large scale level. I know Flashpoint sold out and is going to a second printing but I would like to see the numbers since I realize they may have just printed fewer than there were of Fear Itself.

I thought Flashpoint #1 was a fantastic start to what looks to be one of the best events in history. I thought it was a 5/5.

3/5 for me.....I thought it was OK.

To be fair, I've really not been resonating with "events" from the Big 2 that are engineered to be popular with the fans.

I think my interests have been drifting further & further away from the typical fan that the Big 2 seem to be targeting their events at. I'm still LOVING lots of comics from Marvel/DC, but the ones I'm loving are generally NOT the top sellers for those companies.

I thought it was a 5/5. To compare, I thought Fear Itself was 4/5.

My thoughts exactly. That is what I rated them both.

The weakness with Fear Itself was that it didn't get me excited for the whole event. However, it was well written and the art was amazing. I am excited for the series itself, but the whole event.

With Flashpoint, I was even MORE excited about the event after I read the first issue. Booster Gold #44 was a 4/5 btw, a really good story.

Whereas, for me, neither of them got me excited for the whole event. I did, however, come out of Flashpoint #1 interested in reading both the Emperor Aquaman & Wonder Woman Amazons minis. I'd like to know more about this war. The rest of the stuff? not so much.

I thought the art was superior in Fear Itself.

Paul said it made him interested to get back into the DCU, but I'm not sure how much prior history he had with DC & how much some of the little tid-bits in Flashpoint connected with him and how many were lost.
My DC History...

I was gifted a 30 issue run of Flash Vol 2 leading up to issue 130. At that point I was reading Wally, Kyle and Connor. I stuck with flash up to Issue 225. I've never read the big 3. They don't interest me in the slightest. But periperal books I was on include Damage, Young Heroes in Love, Power Company, Resurrection Man, Hourman & Manhunter. I also read Devin Grayson /Jay Faerber on Titans and a lot of DnA on their version of the Legion.

I essentially quit DC after Infinite Crisis. The perpetual train from Identity Crisis to that point had left me jaded. Especially after buying all the lead in to Infintie crisis series and finding some major plot points to those series were happening in the big 3 titles.

It is cool that the HIVE is back....at least... back in Flashpoint.

I must say that I was VERY happy with Booster Gold # 44.

I liked this book WAY more than Flashpoint #1. Fewer splash pages with lots of characters and no "Barry driving a car"........

This was a good comic. I wish this one had come out BEFORE Flashpoint #1.

I`ve really enjoyed what I`ve read of Flashpoint so far which obviously is very little but I am really on board with the concept. Being a big Batman fan that last page really had me excited for where the Batman mini series is going.

Also with the release of the Flashpoint World Map I`m finding a lot of the concepts mentioned are things I`m really interested in finding out more.

OK, I know I was on record as being skeptical about the 20 Flashpoint minis & one-shots, based on the really feeble amount of solicitation material & somewhat unknown creators.

However, I did say I'd check out the books I did not pre-order when I saw them on the rack.

True to my word, I picked up & browsed thru "Abin Sur: The Green Lantern" & "The World of Flashpoint" in the shop today.

They both looked pretty good. I read a few pages of each.
They both read pretty good. I bought them both & brought them home.

Abin Sur: The Green Lantern - Great issue. Pieces of the story dropping in from all over the place. Abin Sur & Sinestro (sill a GL), elements of Blackest night. I'm adding #2 & 3 to my DCBS pull.

The World of Flashpoint - Unfolding some background around the Atlantis - Amazons conflict, this focuses on Traci 13 and sets up a moment at the end that will likely play a big part in other series as the event moves along. I'm adding #2 & 3 to my DCBS pull.

I'm sure Hassan will be ecstatic to hear that DC is winning me over "at the LCS" even though they were incapable of doing so with their crypto-marketing campaign.
