Agreed. I am not really looking for a new Wildstorm/DC hybrid universe. I liked the characters/books being separate.GABE! wrote:I have high hopes for the return of Wildstorm characters. But, are we going to end up having Batman cross overs into these books? I would prefer a separate universe for Voodoo and any other returning Wildstorm titles.BobBretall wrote: Voodoo (1st official announce of a Wildstorm character):Priscilla Kitaen has just found out she’s a monster. A half-alien hybrid, the woman known as Voodoo must confront the secrets of her past to make sense of the nightmare her life has suddenly become. I'm not a big fan of Liefeld's art, but I am a big Hawk & Dove fan, particularly of the mini and later series that Rob did help create. I'm in on this one...and it may be my first digital purchase just to test the waters and see if I want to keep with it.BobBretall wrote: A lot of people really like Rob Liefeld's art, I'm not one of them.....
Looks like a full re-boot on these characters. Wonder Girl sounds like she has a new status quo, and I really don't like the look of the new feathery Red Robin costume.
Teen Titans MAY go on my list as well...I think Red Robin is the DUMBEST name a hero could have...do none of these people know it's the name of a burger joint? But I'm intrigued...are we losing Cassie?

I'm more thinking back to when he did those Hawk & Dove issues on Teen Titans #27 & 28 back in 2005, they made me cringe......Paul Nolan wrote:Rob Liefelds orignal work on Hawk and Dove was some of his best.... maybe he can recaputure some of that here.

Jim Lee & Dan Didio talk about the "Young Justice" books (what they seem to be calling the group they solicit-leaked today):

Overall I'm really happy with the last couple of day's announcements. The "Dark" books definitely add some diversity that the current DCU was lacking. Resurrection Man is a character I've never read (but heard a lot about), so I'm really looking forward to that. I was never a huge Wildstorm fan (other than The Authority), but the Voodoo series interests me because of the creative team. I've always liked Marz, and I've particularly enjoyed what he's doing at Top Cow, and Basri's work on Power Girl has looked great (and he had a really tough act to follow). I ordered the Flashpoint Frankenstein book, so I'm glad that will continue.
With the young heroes, Teen Titans looks really interesting. Good to see Tim Drake - disappointing that he'll still be Red Robin, but the costume is a big improvement. No more Dr. Mid-Nite jokes and the wings look cool. The new Wonder Girl sounds intriguing (and the old one had grown tiresome). I'm still a relatively new Legion of Superheroes fan and I'm enjoying the current series so it's good to see Levitz continue. That said, Adventure Comics wasn't doing as much for me. The second Legion book has a more interesting direction and a topnotch creative team. Starting Static Shock from the beginning is a good move.
The negatives - I was excited about a new Hawk & Dove series...became a big Dove fan during Brightest Day. But Rob Liefeld?? Not a fan. It's not a deal breaker, though. How long can he last? And I want to read these characters and support Sterling Gates, a writer I enjoy quite a bit. Scott McDaniel is another artist who I'm not fond of, but I want to give Static Shock a try. It's also disappointing that Chris Roberson isn't involved in any of these books (I think it was reported at Bleeding Cool). I thought, or at least hoped, that he was going to be a big star within the DCU.

man, i loved Hawk and Dove in Blackest Night Teen Titans and Brightest Day, but Liefeld is who drove me out of comics. We'll see.BobBretall wrote:I'm more thinking back to when he did those Hawk & Dove issues on Teen Titans #27 & 28 back in 2005, they made me cringe......Paul Nolan wrote:Rob Liefelds orignal work on Hawk and Dove was some of his best.... maybe he can recaputure some of that here.

That pic does not make me want to read a Liefeld Hawk and Dove book.
I think that's important -- seems like over the years 'teen' has come to mean 19-24. Would be cool if it was 12-17.BobBretall wrote:Jim Lee & Dan Didio talk about the "Young Justice" books (what they seem to be calling the group they solicit-leaked today):

I'll agree his current costume is pretty lame, but this new one looks ridiculous. Maybe it's because I tend to look at superheroes too realistically. I picture him getting ready to go out and having to make sure his wings aren't ripped or anything.stardog wrote:Good to see Tim Drake - disappointing that he'll still be Red Robin, but the costume is a big improvement.
I can deal with heroes like Spider-Man who wear the thing under their clothes, and Batman who uses it as camouflage and armor, but that Red Robin thing looks silly to me.
Btw, on a totally separate note: Does anyone know if this new Wonder Woman is going to start over with her history? I'm tempted to try it out but know NOTHING about her other than the Linda Carter TV show. And yes, going back to my first note in this post, Wonder Woman's costume is pretty dumb too I know if I was a woman and fighting people, I'd make sure to have my cleavage out.
Yeah, it's a subjective thing of course, but what superhero costume doesn't look ridiculous in the real world? I'm sure the wings are made of a material that doesn't rip easily. I just like that it gives him his own look and he looks like Tim Drake again with just a domino mask. That Red Robin costume with the big cowl just never looked right. I'm not saying that the new costume is outstanding by any means, but it's an improvement and I'm sure people will complain about it now and get used to it after a couple of issues. Maybe not, but that's my take anyway.abysslord wrote:I'll agree his current costume is pretty lame, but this new one looks ridiculous. They say that all of these books will be accessible to new readers, so you shouldn't have a problem. No guarantees, but that's what they're saying right now. And at least with this costume she can avoid the dreaded "Wonder-wedgie."Btw, on a totally separate note: Does anyone know if this new Wonder Woman is going to start over with her history? They're re-numbering Batman: THe Dark Knight which has 2 issues out so far.Lord Shaper wrote:Batman Beyond #1 and Superboy #1 were both listed as coming over at Bleeding Cool
I still don't know why they would do Batman Beyond... They have only just finished the first story arch and they are renumbering already?
BTW, I'm only calling it "official" when it comes directly from DC, not what Rich Johnston rumor-mongers about.
