Remember Goober (The Andy Griffith Show). He wore one and it was around the same time period, also he always had a comic book rolled up in his back pocket, same as Gomer.

Still got about 20 more TOS to go. I went to The Detroit Fanfare today (10/28/12) and filled many holes in various collections for relatively cheep, but this was the prize:

Thanks! I don't think I started buying them off the rack until it was in the 40s or 50s.

This is the "Big One", I've put off getting this for years & now that I have it, the highest # of GL I need is now #13. I need 6 total issues to complete my GL run:

I had to find out why George Washington was screwing with Rip Hunter!

Working on my Animal Man run from Strange Adventures. That gorilla is a snappy dresser!
Image

Wonderful Joe Kubert cover!
Image

That crazy Superman!

Human Torch vs. Asbestos Man. I think is power is that you get cancer 30 years after fighting him.....

Awesome GL 76 bob! I'm working on that run, but not to the point of buying that book yet. I've read that it's the showcase 4 of the Bronze Age.

It is.

I think I'll end up paying less for GL #2
