June 2010 Marvel Full solicits

Not sure how I feel about them dropping a 5 issue mini on us all at once. Kind of prevents me ordering 1st issue to see if I like it.
HERALDS #1-5 (of 5)
The WOMEN OF MARVEL event continues with the blockbuster of the summer, a fast-paced five-issue weekly series by Kathryn Immonen and Tonci Zonjic!

Marvel is now back to a full slate of Avengers titles:
NEW AVENGERS #1
AVENGERS ACADEMY #1 --> This is pretty much "The Initiative"

Look what they renamed "Punisher" to!!!
FRANKEN-CASTLE #18

Looking forward to this one:
HERCULES: TWILIGHT OF A GOD #1 (of 4)
Written by BOB LAYTON
Art & Cover by RON LIM & BOB LAYTON
THE PRINCE OF POWER IS BACK WITH ONE, FINAL ADVENTURE AS ONLY BOB LAYTON CAN TELL IT!

Looking forward to this too. What can I say, I'm a sucker for Chaykin art & Marvel Western heroes:
THE RAWHIDE KID #1 (of 4)
When Wyatt and Morgan Earp are taken hostage by Cristo Pike and his pack of pistoleros, Rawhide has no choice but to put together a posse of the greatest western heroes in the Marvel Universe — to rescue the Earp brothers and bring Pike to justice. Enter: Kid Colt, Doc Holliday, Annie Oakley, Billy the Kid, Red Wolf and the most overrated gun in the West: The Two-Gun Kid!

Hmm. Spidey guest starring & Juan Jose Ryp art in a Marvel book, I think I'll give MK another try:
VENGEANCE OF THE MOON KNIGHT #9
Penciled by Juan Jose Ryp
Moon Knight said he wanted to be a super hero – now he’s getting his chance. Step one of his education: a team-up. When a hopping mad, skyscraper-tall Sandman goes beserk in Times Square, Moon Knight is gonna need a bigger boat...and some help. Enter: Spider-Man.

I'm with Bob, I'm giving Moon Knight a chance with RYP on art. Pretty excited to see that.

And this FrankenCastle current arc has killed it for me. I am dropping Punisher/FrankenCastle. I'll just be sticking with Punisher Max and any one shots they do.

Yup, or should I say Ryp, I'll also be picking Moon Knight up because of the artist. His art is so ugly that it's awesome, it's the amount of detail that counts. I got issue #1 thru 6 with Opena on art, but stopped at 7 & 8 with Huat.

I wonder if Amazing Spider-Man is going to $3.99 ongoing starting this month, or is it a special month? I think I'll keep getting it in subscription at 1.67 ea. I know these are 40 pages, but I don't really want the back-up, I'm already getting three issues a month.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #634
40 PGS./Rated A …$3.99

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #635 & 636
40 PGS. (each)/Rated A …$3.99 (each)

I was on board for Frakencastle with Tony Moore on art, but not so sure without him. I don't know Harren, maybe he's good.

FRANKEN-CASTLE #18
Written by RICK REMENDER
Pencilled by JAMES HARREN
Cover by MIKE McKONE
“PAYBACK,” PART 1
32 PGS./Parental Advisory …$2.99

Looks like Thor is back up to 3.99 for 32 pages. It was up, it went down, it's back up again. I do like Pasqual's art though. What can I say, I'm an art guy when it comes to comics. Hoping Heroes Corner has a lot of the comcis I want on special.

THOR #611
Written by MATT FRACTION
Pencils & Cover by PASQUAL FERRY
All new creative team! The perfect jumping-on point! A bold new era for THOR begins under writer Matt Fraction and artist Pasqual Ferry! In the wake of SIEGE, Asgard must take its proper place as the Golden Realm, most glorious of the nine worlds of myth. But that means Thor's home isn't just a beacon...it's a target! And what happens to the Asgardians and the denizens of all nine worlds -- including Earth! -- when a dark, destructive force from another reality comes on the warpath?
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Same here. Keep yer backups, Marvel and I'll keep my dollar. Unfortunately if enough people continue to buy the mag at $3.99 then they can afford to lose a few thousand readers. Profits will still rise.

Looks like Marvel has gone with "We tried just raping people for $3.99 for the same old 22 page story. Now let's go the DC-2nd-feature route and add in some crappy backups that nobody is interested in and see if we can get away with $3.99 for 30 pages."

I hope it does not last, but if I had to bet, I'd be guessing that it will go on for at least 3-4 months. (Until they have a chance to scope out sales #s on the first few months worth.)

Steve Whacker said its cause he wanted to give extra content for the grim hunt story line. but they'll see how things go to whether or not they give extra content in the future.

read into that what you will

I have never read Moon Knight, but I will buy it because I love Ryp's art. Heck if Ryp drew Power Pack I'd buy it! (then again I am the one who buys everything from marvel but Moon Knight, Soliel and Deathlock now they got me on another title!).

I also am psyched for Essential Cap #5.

I was happy I am getting another Bob Layton Hercules story. I love his past work on the character.

Jumping off Franken-Castle this issue. With the renumbering it is a good time for me.
