Congratulations John!

John,

Heard the news this morning on the episode, CONGRATS!

I can't imagine the stress of being out of work much less at a time of such poor economic conditions. I'm sure you had many stressful moments behind the scenes but I just wanted to say that I thought you did a great job of masking much of that from us and continuing to forge ahead and talk about the medium we all love so much.

Hopefully this is the start of a nice long term of employment and, with it, you'll be back with enough financial flexibility that you'll not only start ramping up your DCBS but also picking away at MyComicShop.com and the con scene.

All the best!

He should be at work RIGHT NOW. I hope he's not checking the forum from work on his first day :D

I'm sure he'll respond to the thread tonight!

Dow Jones industrials up today as more "green shoots&qu

John-

Grats on your new position. (For anyone who isn't following financial news, there are a number of commentators discussing a turn in the economy and citing positive things calling them 'green shoots' that they feel will eventually turn into mighty economic oak trees.) Clearly John's news has ignited the stock market.

Yep...John started his new job today. Not sure what he's doing or where he's doing it, but I suspect it's something in the DBA area since that's what I believe he's done in the past. I'm sure he'll jump in tonight and give us some of the details.

Thanks.

Today was my first day on the new job and it went well. Traffic wasn't even as bad as I thought it might be.

Bob and I try to keep our podcast about comics, not about any "behind the scenes" stuff.

Being out of work was stressful and having to cut *way* back on the comics I was getting was very frustrating (both for me and probably for Bob as well.)

Between the new job and getting my tax refund check, I'm already at work trying to fill in the gaps that have accumulated over the past few months.

However, aside from filling in those gaps, I'm planning on holding off on any other major back issue buying for a while. I've still got a thousand or more unread back issues from my major back issue bonanza last year. And, I really need to rebuild my saving after having been out of work for a while.

I will be in San Diego but currently have no other conventions planned.

Hopefully I'll be able to catch up on a bunch of titles and get them back into the pool of titles that Bob and I can discuss on the show.
