Have those first two stories been pretty good? I've yet to hear anything negative about them

I'm a Garth Ennis whore but even putting that aside, his War Stories are brilliant.

Vol 1 was about "the Night Witches" who were a group of Russian women who flew bombing runs at night against the Germans in WWII. My father knew about this from all his research so it was really fun for me talk to him about afterwards.

Vol 2 just started "Dear Billy" and is telling the story of two people that are meeting in the middle of WWII and each has been thru some life changing moment.

The art from Vol 1 was great but Vol 2 is sub par, imo. But it hasn't pulled me out of the story.

Have you ever read Garth's War Stories one shots from Vertigo? If so, the story telling is right along those lines. Telling a moment from WWII and isn't commonly known about.

I give it 8 thumbs up!

Yeah, I typically love his war stuff. I just haven't tried these yet. That's good to hear though--I will have to pick up the next series, Tankies, on your recommendation then.

I'm just always sort of cautious about Ennis. the overwhelming majority of the time I think he's brilliant, but there have been just enough instances where I wasn't as impressed to make me think twice or wait for the trade. A good example of that is The Boys. I wasn't thrilled with the first arc, but I went back and tried the following two stories and I was totally on board.
