Contest: What's Your Fave Sci-Fi Comic?

Hey Guys,

My colleague at The Comics Alternative, Andy, and I are proud to announce the podcast's first-ever contest! We, along with Lone Star Comics in Plano, TX, will be giving away to one lucky podcast listener an official Star Trek Klingon disruptor. Produced by Diamond Select Toys — the same people who recently brought you the hyper-detailed Klingon Bird of Prey electronic ships — this Klingon disruptor is based on the weapon as seen on Star Trek: The Next Generation. The disruptor features three different settings, with a thumb trigger activating single shot, rapid-fire and “disintegrate” sound effects, and there’s a flickering red LED at the muzzle.

The contest is in anticipation of The Comic Alternative‘s upcoming on-location show at Lone Star Comics in Plano, where we will discuss sci-fi comics, new and old, with the crew at the comic shop, and which will be recorded on Wednesday, June 5th. This will be the first of two special science fiction-themed shows on location at Lone Star Comics, the second of which will be recorded at the end of the summer (so as to wrap up a sci-fi-filled summer of movies and comics).

To enter the contest, you merely tell us your favorite science fiction comic (or two or three) by doing one of the following:

1 - Going to The Comics Alternative's Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/comicsalternative, “Liking” the page (this is important), and then posting on their FB wall your favorite sci-fi comic(s). If you have already “Liked” The Comic Alternative's Facebook page, that’s fine. In that case you can just post your favorite comic. But it is important that you both “Like” the FB page and comment on the wall. Or…

2 - On Twitter, making sure that you “Follow” The Comics Alternative, @2guyswithphds, and then tweeting us your favorite science fiction comic(s) and including the hashtag #comaltcontest.

The deadline for entries is 12:00 noon Eastern time on June 5th.

We will use your Facebook and/or Twitter name for the drawing and get in touch with the winner in that manner. We will announce the lucky winner on our June 5th show at Lone Star Comics, where they will also be discussing what comics listeners said were their favorites.

Please, only one entry per live human being (who may have multiple social networking handles). We have ways of knowing!

This is sure to be a fun contest, a great way to kick off the summer, and what we hope will be the first in a series of promotional events with Lone Star Comics in Plano. Good luck!
