I just wanted to give a head's up to the Atomic Robo fans that there is an exclusive Comixology only version of ATOMIC ROBO: TWO-FISTED TALES: ALONG CAME A TYRANTULA which features their enhanced guided view.

It's not free ($1.99) but I know we have Robo fans here and I thought I'd pass it along. The guided view featured here is not the panel by panel guided view that exists with all their comics, but rather the foreground images such as characters, word balloons, sound effects, etc... change while the background often stays the same. It's kind of like a simple motion comic. I read it and enjoyed it.

This is nothing new. Isn't this exactly the sort of thing that happened to the Comics On Web (or whatever it was called) service when CrossGen folded?

I liked how Comixology broke the 300 issues of Helllblazer up based on the different writers from over the years. My personal favourite is the Garth Ennis years.

All signed up. Let the games begin! Funny thing is after they tried this before I was able to snag a few books before the breakdown. It actually lead me to buying some Marvel. I was always more a DC guy.

If you signed up in time the other day the Marvel 700 promotion has started. Got my books earlier. Happy to report no problems. Comixology took a lot of flack the last month over the inital crash. Even though Marvel should have shouldered some blame but remained silent. I give Comixology credit for keeping fans updated and following through.

Now since they seem to have things in place it would be nice if they could talk DC into a simular promotion. Lol

Got mine today. I made out.

I do feel bad that the promotion really failed to likely get new people. I would imagine that choose SXSW to get non-comic book people into comics. I have to think those people tried to get the comics, it failed and they forgot about it. Us people already into comics knew to sign back up again but it would have been cool to get an influx of fresh bloo.

I have also completed the download of all these free comics and although this whole promotion was kind of botched, I still think you have to give Marvel some credit for just giving away 700 free comic books. Kudos.

I signed up but so far no communication from Comixology. I'm guessing it may take them weeks to get to everyone.

I haven't heard anything yet either. I would certainly hope they are doing this in groups so as not to overwhelm the servers again.

Those who have gotten the email, do they have a "yes, give me all 700 free comics" button?

I don't remember any button when I did it. I took almost all of the comics, only passing on the Orson Scott Card books. I didn't mind. I think if I was in their shoes, I would not put that button in, make them spend a few minutes to see what is there. That way maybe they get what they have a chance of seeing what they may enjoy instead of just having some big data dump. Besides it helps with their data on what people like and hopefully saves them computer processing time. It did not take long to page through it. I want to say there may have been more than 700 (by a few) but don't quote me on that.

No "all" button. But like someone said, it really doesn't take long to scroll through the books. I can't believe how much I'm digging Marvel right now. Free digital books work. I've already gotten more issues from several series based on the free issues I enjoyed. Read Cable and X-force last night. Still can't believe I liked it.

Dark Horse is taking a page out of Comixology's book. Offering 50 free books. Many newer books.

I got them but DH has always frustrated me digitally. Besides wishing they worked with Comixology so I could sync all my books in one place. The thing that really frustrates me is their app for reading the books is terrible. Very difficult to follow on a laptop(which is what I use for all my digital books). I can never seem to format the page just right.

I've read some DH over the years. But not as much as I've wanted to. I won't buy their books digitally until they move to Comixology. But this free sample might lead me to pursue more of their books in trade.
