That is surprising but it was bound to happen sooner or later.
Wood wrote: The Hawkman thing just missed my radar. I figured it for some random one-shot and I generally don't buy those pre-order. I will pick this up before I leave for vacation in anticipation of having some extra stuff to dig.
Understandable. I sort of figured it would be a kind of pointless one shot. I was very pleased that they actually used it to tell a Hawkman story "that matters" if you know what I mean.
Wood wrote: I really didn't care for the original NYX, so I passed on this despite being a rabid mutant nut. NYX, the original, gave us X-23. I hated her at first, but she went from being someone I despised to one of my favorite new characters in the Kyle/Yost X-23 mini series. For those always looking for inexpensive $1 bin finds, the X-23 series is well worth it.
The X-23 was really good. I second that recommendation.
Wood wrote: And I've never been a big Trekkie, so those IDW books are way off my radar.
The IDW Star Trek books are off a lot of people's radar. Some of them are really good. Others are just okay. But,yeah, if you aren't into Star Trek, there is really no point in getting them.
Wood wrote: Either way, good episode, and listening to it made me eager to try Hawkman on for size.
I look forward to hearing what you think of the Hawkman Special once you've read it.
Wood wrote: Also, CONGRATS on the 1-year anniversary. That's phenomenal and to think you've never missed a week. You guys are MACHINES.
I'm really happy with the episodes we've done over the past year. Bob is an excellent cohost and we're having fun doing the show. And it seems that our listeners are enjoying the show too.

But what I'm really pleased with is the fact that we've helped some people find some new titles that they like and that some of our listeners have returned the favor. I've got a number of titles on my list that weren't there a year ago.

IMO, if you didn't dig the first NYX, you were wise to steer well clear of this series.

Another wise avoidance. If you're not a "Trekkie/Trekker" you are best off steering well clear of this franchise.

PS: Thanks for the congrats, Wood!

I echo John's comments above, I have a load of fun doing the shows with John, and like the fact that we have shone a light on some titles that people were able to try out and ended up liking!

We just got done discussing it and in true Raging Bullets fashion we spent 2 hours talking about Hawkman. It should post around Wednesday or Thursday.

I think it will be episode #129 of Raging Bullets but it doesn't seem to be up on the feed yet.

Yes it is episode 129 but it doesn't seem to be posted yet and I am not sure why. Sean said it be ready by Thursday night, maybe he had some more editing to do.

I have a question for Star Trek comic book fans. Is this Star Trek Complete Collection on DVD worth checking out? It's from Graphic Imaging Technology and I think it comes out on September 7. Star Trek from IDW is looking good and I hope the series lasts for them. Were the comic books with some of these older publishers of Star Trek any good, Western (Gold Label), Marvel, DC, Malibu, and Wildstorm? I have the Amazing Spider-Man complete collection on DVD and that has been a lot fun reading some of the older issues.

I pre-ordered the Start Trek Complete Collection DVD. I figured it was a really cost effective way to get all of those comics. I have all of the Marvel DVD collections.
