Are you talking "good Claremont" from the 1st half of his career when he built up the X-Men franchise, as opposed to "evil Claremont" from the mid-90s onward when he wrote comics so mired in continuity and multiple characters that he drove me away from the X-Men franchise?
Good. I don't know this evil guy of which you speak. :)

Basically it's the a b c approach with three plots starting and stopping over 3-6 issues.

Now that I have a regular job again, I think I will try the DCBS deal on all issues. Paging through Previews, I'm excited about most of the creative teams.

I'm still neutral on the renumbering, but I have to say without it I doubt I would be buying 50+ DC issues in a month.

The DCBS deal on the whole shebang was sorely tempting me, but in the end I stuck with the 11 books I'd originally planned to pick up.

I might have gone for it, if there weren't other comics from other companies I wanted to buy this month.

Plus that Frog Thor statue from Bowen is just too awesome! :)

Alright, I'm in for all 52 issues for the first three months. I found someone who is willing to buy all of these issues from me once I read them for about half of what they will cost me with DCBS, so it solves all my problems. I get to read them, and I don't have them lying around the house when I'm done.

Finally finished listening to the short :-) Previews DC Special podcast and I am now adding a few more books to my list.

Bob's appeal and description towards "I ... VAMPIRE" has me excited about trying it now. And that is the one book, out of all the books, that I had no interest at all in trying. None.

Also, Daren has me wanting to give MR. TERRIFIC a shot. Which is another book that was not on my radar as an option.

Oh, and Daren, if you're current occupation is not in radio or TV, you need to stop whatever is you are doing and seek vocation in the broadcast medium. Your voice is perfect pitch and tone for it.

Ahem .... back on track ...

Trevor also has me thinking about adding JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK back onto my list. I had decided against it, but I don't know, he may have talked me into it.

That would put me up to about 30 of the new titles. If I convince myself to add just a couple more titles, I may go with the DCBS 50% special they have when you get them all.

Batman line-up expands to 13 titles in October:
Though DC's upcoming relaunch includes 11 ongoing Batman family titles,The Source, Newsarama and Comic Book Resources announced today that two new miniseries will join the line to bring the total number of Bat books for October to a full baker's dozen. New titles The Huntress #1 by Paul Levitz, Marcos To and John Dell and Penguin: Pain and Prejudice #1 by Gregg Hurwitz and Szymon Kudranski will effectively introduce the new versions of these characters to the relaunched DCU and reportedly tie into the wider Batverse continuity.

Doing a mini-series on Penguin so early in the relaunch is an interesting decision by DC. And it's written by Gregg (Vengeance of Moon Knight) Hurwitz. Hmmm. Unless DCBS has another 50% off if you buy everything from DC line-item, I think I'll be passing on Penguin.

Huntress looks good though. Paul Levitz wrote the origin of the Helena Wayne Huntress way back in DC Super-Stars #17 in 1977, as well as Huntress' original appearances with the JSA in All Star Comics back in 1977...... I'll be curious to see him updating the character for 2011, 34 years later......

Another new #1 for October:
THE SHADE #1
Written by JAMES ROBINSON
Art by CULLY HAMNER
Cover by TONY HARRIS
1:10 Variant cover by CULLY HAMNER
On sale OCTOBER 12 * 1 of 12, 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US * RATED T+
Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. See the Previews order form for more information.
James Robinson returns to the world of his acclaimed STARMAN series with a new 12-issue series starring the antihero known as The Shade! An attack at the Starman museum kicks off a globe-hopping, centuries spanning quest that will irrevocably change The Shade's life, and ultimately shed light on his true origin! Artist extraordinaire Cully Hamner (RED) kicks off the series, and upcoming issues will feature art by such luminaries as Darwyn Cooke, Javier Pulido, Jill Thompson, Frazer Irving and Gene Ha!
I liked Robinson's Starman series, so I'll definitely be checking this out, only thing I'll have to see about is how I like Cully Hamner's art (e.g., how it seems to fit the character/series for me, personally).

I am interested in the Huntress but not so much with the Penguin.

Paul Jenkins is assisting David Finch on Batman: The Dark Knight.

It seems that DC is really sticking to their guns in regards to the mandate of "Keep up with your book, or you'll be replaced."

Yeah. Wow. I was trying to avoid spoilers for the end of this story but it was impossible unless I stayed offline until I got my books.

That is a shocker for Green Lantern!

And here's another new solicit (NO spoiler):

http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/2011/07/14 ... venture-1/

I guess it was pretty much a given, but it's still good to see that we'll get more Tanga, and the Garbage Man feature has been solid. I like the idea of Robotman replacing Lobo.

Re: Seasonal Numbering.

Renumbering is getting a bit much. I'm at the point where I think the industry would do far better to minimize the issue number and emphasize the cover date more.

But that's mostly just someone tired of trying to accommodate bizarre numbering schemes in his database.
