Glad to hear it, Bob! Congrats!

PHXCC is our favorite con. I hope we get to get back there next year. I missed attending this year.

Okay, I have not read the actual book yet, and won't until the end of the month when my box comes, but I've finally got my first "thumbs down" to something going on with the new 52 initiative. ** SPOILER BELOW ** - Although it's on most of the news sites now so it really won't be for long...

Absolutely, both publishers are guilty.

It is usually Marvel talking trash, so it really stuck out to me when I saw someone at DC finally smack talk a bit publicly.

Looks like DC is tired of turning the other cheek. http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/2011/08/29/counting-down-to-dc-comics-the-new-52-a-note-from-john-rood/ Many in the industry are under the wrong impression that we want to “win the month” at all costs with sales of DC Comics – The New 52. Sure, we’d lo...

Access to the product is a big factor. You can't try what you don't see or know about. I have long argued that comics must go beyond the Direct Market to expand. I just don't see how you can grow the industry with the bulk of your periodicals sold in 2,000 specialty shops that are heavily concentrat...

Re: DC Comics, Where Are All The Women?

[quote="BobBretall" Super-hero comics have a predominantly male audience, and not just because it has mostly male heroes. I think the power-fantasy of super-heroes appeals more to males than to females. If DC did a lot of female characters played totally straight (e.g. not cheesecake-y) wo...

Re: Subscription based all-you-can eat model

For me the biggest barrier related to price is the lack of ownership. If I pay for a digital book and it's on my tablet, and my tablet dies - how do I replace that book? Can I read it on my tablet, phone, desktop, laptop, work machine at lunch, friend's house, etc? Or do I download it to my tablet ...

I'm very disappointed neither John Ostrander nor Gail Simone are writing Suicide Squad. Either one of those on the book, and it would have been an automatic buy for me.

And, good Lord, I do not like the Harley or Deadshot redesigns.

Considering how many books have been announced that have ties to the Flashpoint minis, I'd really be surprised if a Captain Marvel/Thunder book isn't announced with the Superman books tomorrow. My guess for the last book to be announced is a Lois Lane ongoing written by Gail Simone. She stated on Tw...

From The Source: Both digital and print editions of DC’s comics will have parity pricing for the first four weeks of release; thereafter, the digital titles drop in price down to our standard 1.99 digital price point. Oversized issues, including JUSTICE LEAGUE #1, will start at $3.99 and drop to $2....

Is FLASHPOINT the way DC plans on un-marrying Superman?

I would almost guarantee it.

BTW, I think I am going to buy every one of DC's #1s. I am not going to pre-order even a single one of the #2s. I'll read the #1s as they come out and decide which ones earn a slot on my pull-list. This could blow up spectacularly in DC's face. How many folks are going to drop titles due to the reb...

The Day & Date Digital plan is bold, but it will only succeed if they stop charging print prices for digital comics. I, for one, refuse to pay $2.99 - $3.99 for a license to a digital file when I can pay the same price for something that I OWN. Heck, I refuse to pay $3.99 for a print comic. Are ...
