Re: You know a comic is late when...

I don't post much, but this topic really irritates me. I'm ok with creator-owned work being late. I understand that for most creators, its not their full-time job. What drives me crazy is when they solicit books that turn out to be late. The first time or two, maybe its a mistake, unforseen problems...

Has anyone read the book? I want to see the movie, but I wonder if it would be easier to grasp if you had read the book ahead of time. Or would that ruin the movie experience?

It SHOULD be easy, when I think about it objectively. I only have so many hours in the week to devote to entertainment. There are tv shows and movies I want to watch, I play a few video games, and I want to read some novels. And that's not to mention the time spent with family and work that I have t...

"Owe" is a strong word. But, if you are an entertainer, there is an unwritten contract that you entertain your audience, whether it be comics or music. If the audience is not entertained, they will not be back for more. It almost sounds like Natalie tricked the audience to weed out the peo...

I've been looking at trimming my list down, almost to the point that I think I can forego DCBS and just get my comics through my local shop. I still need to do the math, but I may still place a DCBS order, if for nothing else than trades and steeply discounted issues. I currently spend $200-$300 per...

Not Bob, but I can give you my story. I won a HUGE (really, I mean HUGE) lot on ebay. Someone had been collecting from the beginning and sold his entire collection (which was HUGE by the way - and EXPENSIVE). The few that I was missing I ordered through Forbidden Planet UK (which has an exclusive bl...

Anybody's DCBS shipment late?

I always receive my package on Fridays, but it didn't arrive yesterday. When I went to track the package, it only says "Billing Info. Received." I'm not overly worried (I do have a backlog to read this weekend, plus plenty of Football to watch), but was wondering if anyone else noticed a d...

Hey Bob, thanks for the head's up. Are the sketches done inside the book, or is it separate so you can frame it?

Thanks!

I thought the panel went pretty well all things considered, although I do wish we had focused more on comics as opposed to ourselves, which may have made things a little difficult to transition between questions. I think it turned out just about as well as the one from two years ago did, minus the ...

Seems like there was a response removed................. ;) I didn't care for the extended commercial at the beginning of the panel. Didn't seem necessary. A mention would have been sufficient. And I LOVE TwoMorrows. What was the "controversial comment" from the audience member towards iF...

Bob,

For the Comic Book Showcase, is there room to put the comic in a bag and board and insert the entire thing into the frame? The review you linked to said no, but could you bag and board a current size book and display it in the Silver book display?

Thanks for the info.

Did the issue sell for significantly less than guide value? Maybe he wasn't happy with what he got for it and decided to just ignore you and hope you went away.

Well I can definitely understand the gas issue. I wouldn't drive to the next town, about 45 minutes to shop at a LCS. I just want to support a local shop because I'm in a small town and I don't have the luxury of always knowing there will be a place to browse and pick up stuff that I may have missed...

"And honestly to this day I still receive awesome service." This is the one line that makes me think that you might be making a rash decision here. You're going to stop going here primarily because you are afraid that they will become a bad shop? But they haven't become a bad shop yet? Con...
