Bleeding Cool clarifies: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/08/23/marvel-fires-some-of-their-marketing-people/ It sounds like it's the movie marketing that got canned, probably because Disney sees them as being redundant with their own marketing department. But I agree with you Bob, their comic marke...

The Mesa store is what got me into comics. I stopped in to buy Buffy, and I walked out with Runaways, Mighty Avengers, Countdown, and many others. The staff was always great about recommendations, or just someone to shoot the breeze with. None of the shops here in Seattle are even half as good as At...

After reading the end of WotGL I'm not sure how excited I am for GL #1 anymore. I like the idea of xxxxx being a GL again, but I'm kinda bummed that xxxxxx is no longer a GL. But I've been enjoying John's run on GL, so maybe I'll give it a chance. edit: Bob took the spoiler out of the above (in cas...

It'd be nice to setup a large website/database where comic readers can input what they're reading and update it every week/month. Obviously the size of the pool determines if it's useful but then you could track at least some people's tendencies. You could see what they dropped and why and over tim...

DC is defiantly giving it their all on this. I think they should get a lot of credit for trying something, and trying to get people excited. It seems that there is a lot of excitement from existing comic book readers, I'll be currious to see how many new readers this brings in. I think more than lik...

I didn't know Marvel did that kind of discount. Do they really go to 72%? I know the variant cover is nothing new, but it's nice to see them have a cap on the number they're going to do each month. I think the return-ability is the coolest part. Really gives the retailers the wiggle room that Hibbs ...

These retailer incentives communicate two things to me: 1) DC has a lot of confidence in this Re-launch 2) DC really considers retailers as partners, and wants to help them succeed. As someone who is considering starting a comic shop in the future, this has me very excited. If the discounts/variants...

Yeah, unfortunately us retailers ultimately have the responsibility. It's tough sometimes when we have to order titles 2 months before they are released but it is ultimately those orders that determine the fate of a title. This is where preorders and pull lists become the greatest tool in our arsen...

As a dealer who does a lot of cons, I don't think those guys are taking a loss on the trades they are selling. They either get them in bulk from stores that go out of business, or they order huge numbers of leftover crap from Diamond at huge discounts. I don't know exactly how that works because I ...
