Re: Free Comic Book Day! whatcha gettin...
He told me they had gotten into comics at last year’s FCBD and had been voraciously reading comics ever since. This is the real point of FCBD, to get new readers into comics. I was so happy to see the smiling kids with their hands full of comics. A lot of them free and some extras purchased. Do you...

Re: KICKSTARTER: What are you supporting?
I think it might also be helpful/fun to show/talk about what we got back from out Kickstarters when they deliver. Thus far, I'm batting 1000 on being more than happy with what I got. Most recent for me was Sullivans Sluggers. He wasn't lying when he said this would be a massive tome. It doesn't fit...

Re: KICKSTARTER: What are you supporting?
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/robimes/ditkomania-90-march-2013 I just pledged for this Kickstarter. It's a fanzine dedicated to Steve Ditko that has been around since the 80's $6 for a PDF and the actually magazine. Great deal for any Ditko fans. Not sure how the guy is making money, it's onl...

Agreed. Just playing the DA on that one.boshuda wrote: I don't buy (or not buy) books in any way, shape, or form because doing so may cause their cancellation. I think that's a losing game. Buy what you like and let the market sort itself out.

Re: Artists vs. writers, changing of the times
Of course, if you buy a book because you love the character, but the story is bad...are you supporting the character or the bad story more? I've dropped books with characters I love when the story goes south. Good example: I refuse to read/own anything involving Dark Mary Marvel, so I never bothere...

Also, I decided to back this http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1270411036/the-death-of-superman-lives-what-happened I'm a sucker for documentaries and this one really hits my comic and film nerd itch. I hope this documentary gets made, but I'll just buy it after it's done. $25 for a digital downl...

Re: KICKSTARTER: What are you supporting?
The Graphic Textbook Kickstarter I backed mid last year has certainly taken a long time. I have long since gotten my copy of Action Philosophers, but the Graphic Textbook and Reading With Pictures were both estimated to be March 2013 delivery. They did update to say that Spring was the earliest we w...

Re: Artists vs. writers, changing of the times
Mainstream books: Character first, plot/story second, creator(s) third Indie books: Plot/story first, creator(s) second, character third If it's a Captain Marvel (Shazam) story, I don't care who's involved, I'm likely to pick it up. Ditto Supergirl, Legion, etc. Beyond that, it needs to have a comp...

The only part that took me a little time to adjust to is reading the comics one panel at a time instead of turning pages and seeing all the panels work together to reveal the story. That is my worry. I have a desktop (no laptop) and I want to read digital comics on the sofa or in bed at night, but ...

It seems to me that when adding extra pages the percentage price should be less than, or at most equal to, the percentage page count increase due to the sunk costs already being taken care of. Obviously if this new page count forces other changes as well (new printing equipment, different paper typ...

Just got that, as well. I still plan on getting it as it still sounds worth it to me. But when I got that e-mail I could remember the name, but not what the story was supposed to be. In case anyone else wants a refresher on it, I found the solicit for it: RAVINE 1 story / art / cover STJEPAN SEJIC F...
